Feeling like Mom of the Year...

Ok, I have to share how great I feel today...

Normally on any other day if my kids ask me at the last minute for things I don't bend over backward to help them and if they forget a book or something at home when they leave for school they have to learn to be responsible, so I won't take it to them. This works well with how busy I am. Today was a different story though. Yesterday after school Makenna started packing her backpack for a big field trip they had today. She started bugging me for a camera. And since she accidentally gave her camera to the DI, I wasn't in a hurry to get one for her. I have this 35mm Canon Rebel that she wanted to take because it was the only one left in the house besides my digital rebel. So I told her I would think about it if she stopped pestering me about it. Well, she asks me this morning and I decided to let her take it. Well, we realized the battery was dead. Then, I remembered that Mason has a cheap 35mm camera in the toy box downstairs. So she got it and I loaded it with film. Hmmmm...Mason broke the lever that rewinds the film and the film would not quit advancing either. So that camera was not usable. So I thought maybe if I have time before she gets on the bus I will run to the store and get a new battery for the rebel. I told her to call me when she got to school and found out what time the buses were leaving. Then I remembered seeing a camera a few months ago in a box in my basement storage room. I got it out and tried it...Dead battery too. So I had to run to the store after all. When Carrie(my day care helper and cousin) got here I ran out the door. I pulled into the Walmart parking lot as Makenna was calling me at 9:15 am. She told me they were leaving in 5 minutes. I decided that I needed to let her know that the chances were not good for her getting this camera before they left. So I hung up and literally sprinted through Walmart to the back of the store where the camera department is. I grabbed a battery paid at the photo lab counter and had the guy cut the package open for me. Again I sprinted for the car and took off for Makenna's school. Her school, my house and Walmart are all within a 3 mile area. So I seriously pulled into the school parking lot as Makenna was about to step onto the bus. THE TIME...9:24am. Her friend behind her saw me and grabbed her to tell her I was there. She came running toward me with the hugest smile I have ever seen. I got a giant hug and an "I LOVE YOU MOM! YOU ARE THE BEST!" So that made me feel so much better than the heart attack I was about to have from running through Walmart in the terrible aerobic condition I am in. UGH! I thought I would die. But it really was worth making Makenna's day. I love you too Makenna!

I wish we had that action on tape. That would have been good footage. You ARE a GREAT mom! Take care, Tammi

SO CUTE!! Not something you'd do every day, but it does remind our kids how much we love them! I hope she has a great time!

you dont know mw, but I am from KT and I just wanted to tell you my eyes filled with tears reading you blog today. There are not many times we get to be super mom as the kids get older. You were given the opportunity to shine for your daughter and you did. It is the little things that matter in the end. Good job to you, and your daughter for being grateful.
