BAD news about Emily...

Ok, I have to come back with a better update on Emily but for now here it is...
We are waiting to hear from the doctor today about her ultrasound. Last Friday we took a urine sample to the lab to make sure that the kidney infection she had around Christmas was gone. The test came back positive for something. Myhusband talked to the doctor so of course asked NO questions. Last time she had blood, increased white cells and protein in her urine so I am assuming that it is either one or all of those again. So she is having kidney infections without having bladder infections too. So the U/S is supposed to see if something is wrong with her kidney function. They are suspecting possible reflux from the bladder to the kidneys. The doctor put her on a daily dose of antibiotics for 5 months. YIKES! That is a long time for a little girl to take meds but I guess it could be worse. After 5 months if the problems don't clear up on their own the doctor is looking at possibly needing to send her to a specialist to have the kidneys repaired with surgery. The word SURGERY is the way we are actually getting her to take the medicine. Yes, I have resorted to scare tactics. But what else can I do? She hates medicine and is already sick of eating yogurt with chalky power in it. The liquid medicine she takes and I can literally count to ten and then she throws up. Please remember Emily in your prayers!

Anyway, on a more positive note... Emily's birthday is coming up. Since we just moved her and the girls are missing their friends so much I want to give them all birthday parties this year. William has said NO SPENDING MONEY! So, I am taking any ideas from anywhere I can find them. I need a great theme for a birthday party that would not be expensive at all. So please post here or email me if you have an idea. Thanks!

Your poor girl! A christmas party is always fun...Put up the tree and lights, make christmas cookies, sing carols. Have someone dress up and hand out dollar store presents instead of gift bags. Or a scavenger hunt b-day party is fun and practically free.....I'll keep thinking...

Wow! I am sorry to hear about Emily. We will keep her in our prayers. I hate when kids are sick it is so sad. You could invite some of her friends and have a little Tea party and put makeup on and paint there toes and nails, It shouldn't be to expensive if you have that stuff already! Good luck

Oh Deanna, so sorry to hear about Emily. I will keep her in my prayers.

How about a doll baby shower? for a inexpensive birthday party? We had one for Reagan last year. She had four friends over and had a ball.

I made her a Cupcake Cake from Food Networks Semi-Homemade with Sandra Lee. I came out of that party looking like Martha Stewart!

My poor Emily! That's no bueno! That makes me sad....hopefully she gets better soon. I'm sure you guys have already thought to give her a blessing. Tell her I said hi and I love her!
And you should put on a magic show for her bday party. or do a circus theme like you guys did for my 4th bday. I don't know abou the expenses on that one though....
Love ya! -Hillary

How sad and scary for her! I can't even remember to give my kids antibiotics for 10 days...6 months is killer.

As far as the birthday party goes, I like Jaci's idea. Girls of that age love getting all prettied up. Hair-do's, nail polish, the works.

Makeover party and then photograph them. I don't know of any little girls who don't like their picture to be taken. When I did that I sent their picture with the thank yous. Lots of hugs to all your kids. We will throw many prayers her way :) Terri
